The Salvation Army service unit in Greene County will conduct this year’s Red Kettle campaign on Friday evenings and Saturdays at several locations in Greene County for five weekends starting Nov. 20.
Ninety percent of the money received in Greene County will be spent in Greene County to help families and individuals needing assistance with essential human needs. Last fiscal year the local Salvation Army unit helped 74 families or individuals with their rent, utilities, transportation and other needs.
The budget for 2014-15, representing 90 percent of the money raised during last year’s campaign was $8,698. The goal for this year’s campaign of $10,000 would allow the local unit to serve Greene County residents with a similar budget.
The regional Salvation Army officials in Omaha have at times also assisted with needs beyond the funds raised in Greene County when there is a fire or other disaster in the region.
Please consider helping your neighbors by giving to the Salvation Army during this holiday season. Persons who want more information or to volunteer as a bell ringer this year can call Greene County Salvation Army coordinator Pastor Daniel Emmert at 515-370-4906.
In addition to filling the Red Kettles, donors can make deposits at Home State Bank any time of the year. “Many thanks to all who support the work of the Salvation Army service unit in Greene County,” a spokesperson said.
